INTRODUCTORY FLAT PLATE MOULD COURSE
In the brief period between returning from Sri Lanka to embarking on a new drama with Sky, we have managed to reserve a weekend for you! On Saturday 21st to Sunday 22nd January we will be running an introduction to flat plate moulding with silicone and Pro bondo.
This two day course will not only look into sculpting, moulding and applying of flat plate prosthetics, but also include colouring, texturising and removal of them. With additional information about health and safety in the workshop, your materials and tools, and counsel on the human anatomy, you will leave with a high quality of understanding- nothing left out!
Knowing how to create flat plate moulds is an integral skill which will always be desired by employers, and is a great choice if you are looking to increase your level of expertise within makeup and sfx.
The course has been tailored to suit all levels of skills: from those looking to refresh and refine their techniques to beginners who have never tried flat plate moulding.

We have been having a great time in the workshop with our weekend Pro Bondo courses!
Over the last few weeks we have opened our doors to teach an insight into scars, scratches, fresh cuts, birthmarks, and much more!
Our students learnt how to create, apply and colour their bondo prosthetics – and were really enjoying it! Which is important for any makeup artist as it is a quick yet professional prosthetic which, once mastered, is an admired skill set for makeup artists!
If you are interested our next Pro Bondo courses are on the 4th and 5th of June 2016 – so contact us quickly because spaces are limited!
Last year MakeupSFX joined Kurt Sutter (creator and writer of TV hit Sons of Anarchy) on the set for the filming of The Bastard Executioner. The series gave us lots of new and interesting prosthetics to create for the characters, especially Kurt Sutter’s character- The Dark Mute.
The offset workshop team had a great time creating popping boils and silicone genitals (!), and also sculpting/casting body parts to send over to Cardiff, the filming location.
The boils took us on a test to get the right constancy, changing the amount of deadener in each boil, to effect how each one popped.
Then it came to filling of the boil, eventually using a liquid mostly of custard to create a gooey centre- yum!
